The NIS2 directive is the EU-wide legislation on cybersecurity that updates the 2016 NIS1 Directive. It provides legal measures to boost the overall level of cybersecurity in the EU. The NIS2 directive covers a wider range of sectors and entities, introduces more stringent security requirements and reporting obligations, and harmonizes sanctions across the EU.
